GREEN TEA, GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH BUT BEWARE

Green tea is one of my favorite drinks at Yoshinoya, (A Japanese fast food chain known for its tasty foods at an affordable price).  I like the taste of it since it’s not too sweet. If this is the first time you will taste it, it may taste grassy, but when you get used to it, its taste is refreshing. (I’m talking about a cold green tea with a touch of lemon).  This is one kind of preparation of the tea, though it may be served hot or cold. Oh I love it with ice especially on hot season.

Green tea is good for our health if we take it moderately.   It has polyphenols (a plant substance) that prevents cancer and cardiovascular or heart disease. A study conducted in toxicity of polyphenols, has shown that excessive consumption of green tea, can cause kidney and liver disease. As a green tea drinker we should not be worried that we might have a kidney and liver disease, since it only occurs to those people who take the green tea supplement.

Chung Yang of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, cited on his experiments on rodents and cats, these two animals died when given a large dose of polyphenols. He also reported in some cases in humans when liver toxicity symptoms had been observed when taking green tea based supplement. The symptom disappeared after stopping the pill.  The symptoms returned when they resume taking it. (Chemical Research in Toxicology, vol. 20, p 583)

Green tea is beneficial to our body’s health at a certain degree of consumption, like 10 cups a day is still okay but over dose of the pill based green tea supplement can have harmful effect to our health.

  2. it's okay to drink green tea up to 10 small cups a day.... but the green tea supplement pill is dangerous since it's has 5 times more polyphenols, which can damage the kidney and liver.

Junk foods for you and for me

Most of us love eating junk foods especially the kids and my kid is one of them. Oh how she loved eating chocolate like me. Green & Black's Organic Chocolate Bar, 70% Cocoa, 3.5-Ounce Bars (Pack of 10) It is sad but true that most of our kids today have junk food on their diet. These foods are loaded with high calories, fats, and sugar, but very low in nutrition.

Easy breakfast recipe for kids

As a working mom, we tend to always be in a hurry all the time specially in the morning. The challenging part is cooking healthy food for the family. I would like to share with you this easy recipe, not just easy but healthy as well. Korean inspired with a twist. Korean love vegetable a lot so I incorporated some sprouted mung beans here. 2 scrambled eggs 1/2 cup sprouted mung beans 3 tbsp all purpose flour Pinch of salt 1 tsp sugar 4 left over fried fish Water to dissolve the flour in runny consistency. Oil for frying. Pepper as desired Onion chopped small bits Just mixed all the ingredients and fry in small amount of oil in high heat to have the browning effect. Oh watch the fire not to burn the food. After a minute turn the fire medium low cover the pan to cook evenly. After 2 to 3 minutes flip it and do the same procedure to the other side. High heat to medium low heat and cover. It can be a snack or partnered with rice (I preferred hot rice ) You will thank me...

BABY RASHES

It hurts to see your baby crying out loud because of that reddish thing that you see on her diaper lining. These are diaper rash or diaper dermatitis; it is caused by diaper staying wet on the skin, rubbing of diaper on the skin and some chemicals that blend with the diaper that is found in urine and stool. Common causes are: ·          If the wet diaper stays long on babies, especially if they sleep for long hours and we are unable to change it. ·          If the baby is already eating solid foods. The chemical content on their stool and urine might change causing the rashes. ·          Constant rubbing of skin.
