Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) - What to do in case of fire?

What do you do when fire is already starting? Especially coming from LPG. According to common answer from the neighborhood. They will:
  1. Cover the fire with wet rag/blanket.
  2. Cover the fire with  soil. What if there are no soil, since most part of the house are made of cement already
  3. Get some water and pour the water on it.
But my answer is stop the source of fire or get a fire extinguisher. Ha ha ha. Sounds right to me since we have a fire extinguisher, but what if you don't?

Here's Ann, showing us how to do it.

What she has done here is to actually fold the hose from the tank to the burner. You can actually fold it only if you are using the Hydraulic Magnetic Hose. (This is actually pure rubber that could last from 5 to 10 years.) Most of the common rubber can be found on airplane's wheels.

Anne gave us free information on how to prevent fire especially coming from liquified petroleum. The scenario here is: there is a leakage on the hose that's being used. Which is true (creepy). I captured the video a little bit farther, since I'm really a scared of fire :)

Would you believe it that a gas thank if exploded is as strong as 8 to 10 bombs? Which could damage our property or even lives.

So to save us from fire. Here are the safety precautions that we can follow:
  • Always check the LPG hose for leakage.

  • Blue hose and orange hose can last up to 8 months, that means we have to change it often to prevent leakage of gas (these hose are usually used on car wash.)
  • Check for rust on the clamp at both ends of the hose. Even if the hose is working perfectly, the rusted clamp can damage the hose itself.
  • Better to use the pure rubber hose (Hydraulic Magnetic Hose), it can be folded if there's leak to prevent explosion, refer to the video. We are using that type of hose.

  • Always turn off the Gas tank when not in use or every after use.
TIP: If you are already seeing fire coming from the leak hose, how do you stop it? Be calm, fire coming from LPG usually compose of blue and orange fire, don't stop the fire coming from the top. Orange fire is the hottest part, the blue fire isn't. Ha ha ha. Funny but true. You can just put your finger sliding from the side of the source of fire, if it's really small, so that you won't be burnt. The reason behind this, LPG consist of different chemicals including water.

TIP: To save on gas usage, be sure to have a thick board underneath your gas tank. (Either it is Solane, Gasul etc.), it doesn't really matter. The low temperature of the concrete will solidify the gas inside the tank. Same case with fire extinguisher :)

TIP: Purchase only LPG tank with certified mark. These mark are usually found at the side of the top handle of the  gas tank.

For demo please contact us, and we will relay the information to Ann :). This is not a paid advertisement, but I believe that being knowledgeable on this kind of scenario will help us to prevent loss of properties or even loss of lives.

Hope this helps and save lives. Please do share :)

Domain and Hosting in Bluehost

I've been using bluehost a few years now. Soon I will be migrating this blog to bluehost, but I'm giving it a second thought. Although I know that bluehost is very reliable when it comes to speed and up-time, I'm concerned about the URL that's already been published using this blogger domain. That would be a lot of rework when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. But I will be uploading another site soon using Bluehost domain and hosting services. The reason I can't stay away from bluehost is that, the customer service is superb. I mean come to think about the technicalities of the servers and all. Almost all domain hosting has very reliable services when it comes to server hosting, but I guess the difference is their customer service. Their agents are technically savvy when it comes to trouble shooting customer's issue.
